Luno is a digital currency exchange and wallet, who allow users to buy, sell and store digital currencies like, Bitcoin and Ethereum, safely and securely. Luno were acknowledged as the 2nd fastest growing tech company in Europe at the prestigious TNW Awards. Previous winners have included Deliveroo, who have fast become a household name in Ireland. This accolade showcases a dedication to European growth, with a focus now on Ireland.

Newly appointed Head of Ireland, Maya Kumar, has a background in European politics and global finance and asset management. With a presence in over 40 countries and a team of over 100 team members, Luno plan to grow their team further as part of their expansion strategy in Ireland, which Maya will oversee.

The Co-Founder and CEO of Luno along with Maya Kumar attended MoneyConf in Dublin’s RDS recently. This is one of many local activities that the brand has planned as part of their Irish expansion. The Luno team discussed highly relevant industry topics such as:

  • Demystifying the myths and misconceptions around digital currencies, a much needed discussion as the industry continues to evolve. It is key to educate the wider ecosystem about the current and long term benefits digital currency adoption can have on financial transactions and the economy.

  • Trust is the most valuable currency in this fast growing industry - people want to understand where they can buy digital currencies safely and securely. Dissecting the crowded exchange marketplace is important to allow users to engage in a healthy and safe way. Can digital currency platforms provide this and can they do so in a more reliable and seamless way than traditional banking platforms?

Maya Kumar, Head of Ireland for Luno, says “Ireland holds significant strategic value to Luno as a European financial centre with a reputation of having a world-class tech industry. Luno is re-imagining the financial system, leveraging efficient technology to upgrade people to a world where money is cheaper, faster and safer, more interoperable, private yet transparent and with open and equal access to everyone.” Read a full interview with Maya on Irish Tech News or some great insights from her in this fintech feature in The Sunday Business Post.
